Product Review: Illamasqua Pure Pigment in Berber

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Following in yesterday's footsteps, here's a post about a product that I featured in my latest Makeup Challenge FOTD - the Illamasqua Pure Pigment in Berber.

This is my first experience with any pigment from Illamasqua, and I'm pleased to report that it is actually really fuss-free and neat!

I love the way the pigment is packaged - a flat container with a small opening - fuss-free. I did, however, run into a snag trying to get the packaging open. The pop-open lid is a nightmare for a klutz like me. On several occasions, I fumbled with the cover only to have it pop open at the wrong angle and spray pigment everywhere. Once the cover is open, though, I like that I have some space to press the pigment into the brush, and isolate smaller amounts of pigment so I don't get too much onto my brush.

Illamasqua describes this as an auburn shimmer, which I think is accurate. It really also depends on what kind of colours you use together with it - when used beside cooler-toned colours, it shows up a fiery red.

I find this pigment really easy to use - it is extremely fine, as are the shimmer particles in it. I can see a separation between the shimmer and the pigment itself though, if you know what I mean. In some pigments you can't really tell that there are separate particles of shimmer floating around in the product. I experienced no fall down (I was really safe, but even with a heavy hand there is going to be minimal fall down) with this eyeshadow, and the glitter doesn't do that annoying thing where it separates from the shadow and dances around all over your face (thank heavens!).

All in all, I really like it! I am definitely going out to check out more of Illamasqua's pigments. I'm hoping that they change that lid, though!

Illamasqua Pure Pigment in Berber launched with their 'Theatre of the Nameless' Collection, and retails at AUD 39 per pot.
