Foundation Review Series: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

Thursday, August 30, 2012

Hi ladies! Today the foundation I'm featuring is the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. This is one of my most treasured foundations, and I researched this foundation a LOT before finally deciding to get it!

Giorgio Armani: As seen in the press, capture the glow of perfect skin with this award-winning foundation. Luminous Silk foundation features an exclusive Micro-fil technology. So weightless, it redefines foundation. Its hydrating fluid glides on seamlessly with a silky texture and all-day, buildable coverage. For all skin types.
So here is my review!

Packaging
I love the frosted glass bottle and the beautifully embossed brand name on the cap. The pump isn't as smooth as the Dior foundation pump, but works well. The cap could be a little tighter, in my opinion, because sometimes when I pick it up by its cap, the bottle just falls right out of the cap.

Product
This foundation is pretty watery, one of the most watery foundations I have in my collection, aside from the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua.

The colour 3.5 is a great match for my NC20-ish skin. It has a very slight yellow tint to it so it is perfect if you are Asian or have yellow undertones in your skin.

Performance
Though it is light and watery straight out of the bottle, the foundation feels like it gets a little creamy and slightly thicker upon application. I can only assume that it is the Micro-fil technology at work, but what do I know!

My favourite way to apply this foundation is with a buffing foundation brush, because this foundation is already pretty sheer, and finger-application means that the foundation will come out too sheer, or you will have to use way more foundation than you would use if you had applied it with a foundation brush.

The reason why I love this foundation so much is because it gives the skin a subtle glow, and has a beautiful velvety finish. It is also very light, and doesn't feel like you have product caked onto your face. It is the foundation of choice for many a red carpet makeup look, and I can see why! As promised by Giorgio Armani, this foundation does build up well, and can be layered for a more medium coverage.

One thing I insist upon with all my foundations is that they do not sink into pores or fine lines, and that they do not flash back on camera. This foundation surpasses all my expectations! It makes my skin look lovely and smooth.

I definitely highly recommend this foundation for people with decent skin, and who have anywhere between a dry and an oily skin. If you have very oily skin, however, you might want to try a more matte foundation.

The Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation retails for AUD 90 at Giorgio Armani Beauty counters.
