From Winter to Spring: Pretty Purple Eyeshadow Shades

Monday, August 06, 2012

Hi everyone! I finally have my internet back and I am excited to share with you some great purple eyeshadow shades. Because purple is a neutral colour, and has so many different undertones to match extremely warm skin tones (plummy colours) and very cool skin tones (lavender colours), it is the perfect colour to complement almost any skin tone. Because of its versatility, it is also the perfect colour for (if you're the type to match your makeup to the season) transitioning from Winter to Spring.

Here are a couple of colours that I have discovered, that are perfect for taking your makeup from Winter to Spring, or to bring out a beautiful glow to your skin.

Ellis Faas

Creamy Eyes E106, USD 36
This is a taupe with a lilac undertone, which I think is beautiful on its own or blended into the crease.
Creamy Eyes E115, USD 36
This is a basic matte purple. It is a beautiful colour that matches both warm and cool skin tones.
The Creamy Eyes range of (duh) cream eyeshadows has the most beautiful texture and lasts amazingly long on the skin. It does not fade or crease, and stays beautifully strong and pigmented throughout the day. If you're a fan of pigmented, yet natural colours, you must check out the Creamy Eyes.

Light E304, USD 42
I fell in love with this shade as soon as I saw it. It is a gorgeous holographic purple with silver, blue and purple shimmer shot through it. Whilst the colour is amazing, the texture is very difficult to work with. I recommend picking it up with a fluffy blending brush and buffing it over a cream eyeshadow to maintain the eyeshadow's lustre and to keep it from flaking or fading.

Ellis Faas products can be purchased from their official website, which ships worldwide.

Luview Triple Baked Eyeshadow

You have probably already heard about my obsession with the Luview Triple Baked Eyeshadows (if only Luview would start producing blush now!) and this palette is no exception. I swatched the purple eyeshadow from the centre of the palette because I love the strong purple tone and the subtle shimmer running through it. Perfection.

Luview products can be purchased from the Luview website, which offers free worldwide shipping.

Sisley Phyto-Ombre Eclat in 14 Ultra Violet, AUD 55

This fabulous light purple eyeshadow is all you would expect from Sisley - smooth, easy to blend pigment, a sheer wash of colour with a very subtle shimmer to brighten your face, perfect for daytime and buildable for a subtle smoky nighttime look. It is kind of like an eggplant/lavender colour - suitable for both warm and cool toned skin.

You can find Sisley products at their counters at David Jones nationwide.

Arbonne Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Ocean and Titanium, AUD 26

I only recently discovered Arbonne cosmetics through a PR email, and I decided to test these eyeshadows out. They are sheer and very easy to use, and very incredibly smooth and blendable. Both these colours are more suited to a cool skin tone, and when used together, create a beautifully contrasted smoky eye look. Both these colours can be built up to create a more intense look.

For stockists, visit the Arbonne International website.

Chanel Illusion d'Ombre in 83 Illusoire

Chanel, of course, needs no introduction. Neither do their Illusion d'Ombre range. I love Illusoire because it is the most amazing colour, and brings out a beautiful glow in the skin. The high shimmer makes it the perfect cream eyeshadow to use on a night out on the town, and it has pretty decent lasting power. The best part about this eyeshadow is that it is so easy to use - I just apply it with my fingers and blend. I love using this on the mobile lid with a natural contour colour in the crease.

Here is another picture of the swatches, this time in natural light.
