Event News: Pantene Beautiful Lengths
Sunday, September 09, 2012On Monday, September 3rd, Pantene launched the Beautiful Lengths campaign in Australia. Beautiful Lengths is a partnership formed by Pantene with Look Good...Feel Better, a charity dedicated to teaching cancer patients techniques to help restore their appearance during chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Pantene will fund the creation of real-hair wigs by helping women grow beautiful hair to donate to the program.
These wigs will be donated across the country to cancer patients at no cost to them.
Actress Naomi Watts is joining forces with fellow Pantene ambassadors, beauty expert, Zoë Foster, and leading hairstylist, Barney Martin, to encourage women across the country to skip a trim and grow their hair longer and stronger before donating their ponytails to Beautiful Lengths during National Donate Your Hair
Week in November.
Starting in Sydney on Monday, 12th November, National Donate Your Hair Week will take place across the country, asking women to donate their hair to the Beautiful Lengths cause.
The Beautiful Lengths website details Pantene's contribution to this cause, as well as what you can do to help forward this campaign. If you are interested in donating your hair, the website also provides a list of Do's and Don't's, teaching you how to care for your hair and how to donate your hair once you have the right length.
In addition, hairstylist Barney Martin has also compiled a list of his top 5 short hairstyles for summer:
- Messy, textured styling is a great way to wear short hair, and is a low maintenance option for summer
- A disconnection on one side is a great way to ease into the undercut trend, as seen on Agyness Deyn, for a grungier feel
- Pixie cuts inspired by Mia Farrow are on trend and can be worn either soft and full or as a more extreme crop
- A semi bob like Rachael Taylor is a chic look when worn smooth and sleek
- For short cuts that sit below the chin, a side swept fringe will soften the crop and complement your face
If you want to pledge your hair to this cause, visit the Beautiful Lengths website at www.beautifullengths.com.au for more information.
Update
The Beautiful Lengths campaign has now come to a close and I just wanted to share with you the wonderful results of the campaign.
Pantene collected a total of 940 ponytails since the campaign's launch on September 13th 2012, and in partnership with Look Good...Feel Better, will distribute these wigs to wig libraries and hospitals who have the highest demand.
Campaign ambassador Naomi Watts visited Sydney to attend the St Vincent Kinghorn Cancer Centre to present the first Pantene Beautiful Lengths wig to cancer patient Jodie Queenan.
Here's what Naomi had to say about the campaign:
“It’s been fantastic to see such a huge surge of support for the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program; to know that so many Australian women - and men - decided to give up their hair to help another is incredibly touching and very admirable.”Pantene still accepts donations all year round, so if you have suitable hair, you can still donate to the Beautiful Lengths cause. If you can't pledge your ponytail, you can still help by sharing a personal story on the Beautiful Lengths website, or by spreading the word and sharing the love :)
