Foundation Review Series: Chanel LIFT LUMIÈRE
Tuesday, September 11, 2012Hello everyone! If you follow me on Twitter, you would have seen my tweet about getting the chance to play with the Chanel Lift Lumiere foundation (it belongs to my Mom) while my parents were here on a visit.
Chanel: Chanel Lift Lumiere contains the LIFTOPTIC complex, which directs light exactly where it is needed. Wrinkles and fine lines are smoothed, as if by magic. The face regains the appearance of young skin. Pores and imperfections seem to disappear and dark spots are lightened. The complexion glows with youthfulness.
Here are my thoughts:
Packaging
This is a bit less luxe than some of the other Chanel foundations. The bottle is plastic, but the pump is still smooth and works perfectly.
Product
The foundation has about a medium viscosity, and blends easily. I found that a buffing brush was the fastest and easiest way to apply it, because using a paddle foundation brush will give you a little bit of a streaky finish.
The colour I got to try was 20 Beige, which is a great, if not perfect match for my NC20-ish skin.
As mentioned earlier, I absolutely love the finish when I apply this foundation with a buffing foundation brush.
Applied with a buffing foundation brush.
Applied with fingers.
The major attracting factor of this foundation is its 'lifting' qualities. I was a little skeptical about this because really - how much can a foundation do to lift your skin?
In the end, though, I actually found it to be quite effective. I was pretty surprised at its performance overall - when something is marketed as a lifting product, you tend to overlook the fact that it might also be a beautiful foundation sans that lifting effect. The foundation was dewy, luminous, and everything I look for in a foundation. I would say that the coverage is medium to full, so if you're one of those girls who likes good coverage in their foundation then this is something that might appeal to you.
I love how it makes my skin glow, and I am quite pleased with the lifting effect as well.
My Mom loves the 'lift' that it gives her and she says that it makes an obvious positive difference. For me, the areas where I normally need a little bit of lift are my cheeks (near the jawline) and my eyes. The foundation actually did that! Amazing!
In summary this is a beautiful foundation. It is marketed as a lifting foundation, but other major benefits include the gorgeous glow that it imparts onto your skin. I think this is the closest Chanel foundation I have found so far, to the cult-favourite Pro Lumiere (which sadly, has been discontinued).
