Product Review: Simplicité Anti-Acne Challenge
Thursday, September 13, 2012Hello all you gorgeous people :)
I have an exciting little piece of news for you today - I was recently contacted by Simplicité about my skin issues. They issued a little challenge: using Simplicité products will clear up all your unwanted acne and scars.
This was, of course, extremely intriguing to me. I have tried many products, some help temporarily, and some only help to an extent. I agreed, and started my Simplicité routine last week!
Firstly, let me introduce you to my skin. I have combination to oily skin, with minor breakouts. I always have about 4-5 acne spots on my face. My breakouts tend to last about a week or so, then most of them turn into scars (without my picking or poking at them) that can last for months on end. My skin is also quite sensitive and will break out instantly if I use the wrong product. Occasionally, I also get the odd cystic pimple, which is absolute hell!
My skin was also a little raw from the use of a glycolic based cleanser, which caused really uneven, red bumps all over my chin.
What I am looking for in a skincare regime is something that can keep the oiliness around my T-zone at bay, and something that can prevent breakouts.
I was sent the Simplicité trial pack for combination/oily skin, with a handy little booklet explaining in detail the products and how to use them.
Here are my thoughts:
Since these are trial-sized products, I won't say anything about the packaging, but I will share with you the condition of my skin after a little over 1 week of trialling this range.
My regime over the first week consisted of the:
Plant Gel Cleanser - smells like a gorgeous blend of essential oils, and is so relaxing. Doesn't foam very much but does clean the skin well
Hydrating Floral Toning Spray - a multi-purpose toner that is used both as a toner as well as an emulsifier to help with the application of other products in their range
One Step Exfoliating Cleanser - I've only used this twice so far. They recommend that you use it once every 3 days for the first 2-3weeks to avoid breakouts
Sage Face Oil - I have always loved applying face oil because I feel like it really helps moisturise the skin, and this face oil is no exception!
Oil Controlled Day Creme - a citrus-smelling, lightweight moisturiser that feels lovely on the skin
Lemon Night Creme - a slightly heavier moisturiser with a delicious lemon sherbet scent
After about a week my skin feels a little less oily in the T-zone. It is still oily, but I can tell that it has reduced a little. I am ecstatic to report that the raw, sensitive skin and the nasty red bumps around my chin have almost disappeared, which is fantastic since it's only been a week!
I have broken out a little bit (to be specific, about 5 or 6 spots) since beginning this regime, around my cheek area, my forehead, and a little bit on my chin. The breakouts are a little different from my usual ones - these have tiny heads of pus (I'm sorry if I'm being a little too graphic here!) - but are small, like the ones I usually get.
I have also noticed that my skin is a tiny bit brighter and smoother, and my pores are a little bit smaller.
Overall, I am pretty pleased with the result. I am planning to continue the regime and see how it handles the breakouts.
I was also sent the Waratah and Beetroot Plant Nutrient Mask, the Antibacterial Serum, and the Rosemary Blemish Gel. I will be incorporating these products into my regime starting this week, and I will update you in about a week or so with the results!
