Fabulous Shades for Spring 2012
Monday, October 08, 2012Happy Monday, everyone! Since Spring is finally upon us, I thought it might be fun to share a couple of product suggestions for this gorgeous season. Spring time only means one thing - brights, pastels, and all the pretty colours of the rainbow! :)
I'm going to start with the eyeshadows first, because I love eyeshadows! Here are some palettes that I think are perfect for Spring.
Clockwise from top - NP Set Red Carpet Set Palette, Sleek Oh So Special Palette, Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism 'Fundamental' Palette, Sleek Circus Palette
NP Set Red Carpet Set - this has been around for a while but is perfect for Spring, in my opinion. The eyeshadow colours are nice and bright without being over the top, and the blush colours compliment bright eyes perfectly.
Sleek Oh So Special - for something more suitable for the office, this palette is PERFECT. It has a good mix of neutral colours, with some shimmery, more smoky colours packed in there if you want to transition your look into the evening. There are some pretty pinks in the palette too - very Springtime fresh.
Illamasqua Fundamental Palette - this is a versatile, beautiful palette, and one of my favourites this season. It houses two bright powder eyeshadows (the bright yellow and purple), and two cream formula eyeshadows. These beautiful bright colours can be used all over the lid or as subtle accents. I love the combination of the silver cream colour in the inner corner of the eyes, a pretty neutral brown on the upper lid, and the green and yellow eyeshadows on the lower lashline. Very fashion-forward!
Sleek Circus Palette - this is one of Sleek Cosmetics' older releases, and I'm not sure if they still have it in stores. It is a beautiful palette, though, and in case any of you own it, I thought I'd jog your memory if you haven't used it in a while. Sleek packed some bright, vibrant colours into this palette, with their signature blendability and creaminess. Another one of my favourite palettes for Spring.
I also have a couple of singles and mini palettes that I love:
Clockwise from top left: Luview Triple Baked Eyeshadow, Ameli Eyeshadow in Orange Glow, NYX Ultra Pearl Mania pigment in True Purple Pearl, Heavenly Natural Mineral eyeshadow in Daddy's Girl, Clinique Lid Smoothie in Imprompt-Blue
Nails are another way you can really play and express yourself this season. I found a selection of beautiful nail colours that I thought you might also like:
Clockwise, from top left: essie tour de finance, ulta3 Hotspring, Mode Cosmetics Nail Enamel in Raven, essie van d'go, Mode Cosmetics Luv-a-Lot, essie lilacism, Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Radium, essie mint candy apple, L'Oreal Color Riche Le Vernis in 211
A complete collection of pastels that you might get pretty excited about is the Face of Australia Limited Edition Pretty Pastels collection - a set of pastel nail polishes that retail at only AUD 4.95 each. It's a pretty well put-together set, too! The collection launches in late October, so watch out for them!
Of course, without a good base, all the makeup in the world is useless. For those of you with dry skin, the warmer, more humid seasons are here, so rejoice! For those of you with more oily skins who are dreading the warmer months, fear not! There are foundations out there that can control that oil and keep you mattified all day long.
The Laura Mercier Oil Free Supreme Foundation is a heavy-duty, anti-shine, anti-oil foundation that keeps your shine at bay even on the warmest summer days. It keeps your skin moisturised whilst controlling the oil, and does a heck of a job at it, too! Remember to moisturise before you apply foundation, no matter what skin type you are!
The Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation is a little less heavy-duty compared to the Laura Mercier one, but if your skin isn't too oily, this is a great alternative. This one has a little bit of a glow to it, but still looks matte - something that Chanel is particularly good at doing. Read my full review of it here.
That about sums it up! I hope you guys found some products that you might like :)
