Makeup Tutorial: New Year's Party Eyes
Friday, December 27, 2013
Hello lovelies! I know it's been forever since I last posted a YouTube makeup tutorial, but I am finally back with this New Year's party look for you guys. You can do so many things to spice this look up as well, like apply extra highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones and larger lashes, or you can get a glitter eyeliner and add that to your lashline or the inner corners of your eyes, or onto the centre of your lid.
I hope you enjoy the video! x
Products used:
su:m 37 Air Rising Moist TF Cusion Foundation
I'm normally not a fan of compact foundations, but this one contains fine pigments in a thin liquid that smooths onto the skin so easily, and it is so light and yet still gives great coverage. The finish is dewy, which I love, but not too dewy that it can't be used on oily skin in humid weather (my current skin condition).
Tony Moly Easy Touch Waterproof Eye Brow
This pencil, in the colour Dark Brown, is just right for my neutral toned skin and cool-toned hair. It is much creamier than most pencils, but doesn't come out overly strong and thick (ugh!) the way some creamy eyebrow pencils do. It is best to draw on fine hairs with a light hand, and it comes with a little eyebrow comb on the other end so that you can comb through your brow hairs to make them look more natural. My favourite thing about this pencil is that it lasts throughout the day, despite it coming out so creamy at the beginning.
Shu Uemura x Takashi Murakami 6 Hearts Princess Enchanted Black Parallel Palette
This eyeshadow palette is the bomb because the eyeshadows are really pigmented, but I never experience any fall down from these eyeshadows. The colours are well thought out and complement Asian skin like no other. I love that no matter how you apply them (brush/eyeshadow/sponge applicator), the colours always come out strong and are lovely to blend. Try swatching them and you will feel the softest, silkiest eyeshadows you have ever touched. This palette also comes with a blush and some pretty decent applicator brushes, so if you are looking for a good palette for a night out, this is it.
Tony Moly Backstage Gel Eyeliner
I bought this because I read so many raves about it online, as well as a big recommendation by a famous Korean TV show. I was skeptical at first (I own and have tried several different gel liners - how much better could this one be?) but soon came to realise that lasting power isn't the only thing a gel liner should have. This gel liner is also extremely, extremely pigmented. So much so that I actually manage to achieve that dark eye, light iris look that is impossible to achieve for a girl with brown/black irises. It's that black.
CathyCat Super Cover Cealer
Honestly, I haven't been this excited about a makeup product in a very, very long time. I've tried really good concealers and still have several that I love, but none of them can hold a candle to this mother of all concealers. It has a very smooth consistency, and is the lightest texture I have ever tried in a concealer. It is so easy to blend and so very thin, but pigmented enough so that even the tiniest, thinnest layer still manages to cover an angry red zit. This is quite slick, so it needs to be set with a powder, and once you do it just stays put.
Rouge Bunny Rouge Liquid Highlighter in Sea of Tranquility
This is one of those products that you know is going to be a major star in your product lineup. Its shimmer is multicoloured, and so finely milled that once you blend the liquid onto your skin, it just looks like healthy, glowing skin. It lifts your face and brings such a glow to your skin, it's insane.
Zoeva Sun Power Palette
A blush palette of 8 different, warm-toned blushes. It has a couple of matte blushes thrown in too, which makes it a great all-rounder palette for bronzing, contouring, and cheek colour.
Sleek Blush in Pixie Pink
This is a beautiful cool pink blush that will really bring colour and life to your skin. These kinds of blush colours are great for a little pick-me-up if your skin is looking a little sallow. The cool tones in this blush also complemented my eyeshadow colours beautifully, which is why I chose it.
Laqa&Co Lip Pencil in Wolfman
I didn't think much of this pencil at first, but after applying it on its own (you can see the colour in action on its own in my video close to the end), I realised what an incredibly beautiful colour it is. The pigment in this lip pencil is not too strong - which is good because a strong, cool-toned pink lipstick can wash out Asian complexions - but strong enough to colour in your lips and extend your natural lip line outwards to create the illusion of fuller lips. The pink is soft and sweet, the perfect colour for this makeup look.
Burt's Bees 100% Natural Lip Gloss in Ocean Sunrise
If you're looking for a long-lasting lip gloss that is also moisturising and gentle on the lips, this is a great one. It is a light pink, sheer colour that perks up your lips and makes them look just a little bit glossy. As it wears off, it takes away any flakes in your lips along with it, and makes your lips feel extremely soft and smooth.
