Product Review: My Favourite Lipstick Formulas
Friday, September 26, 2014
Despite not being a fan of wearing colour on my lips (I'm partial to nude lips), I am a huge fan of lipstick. I'm always the first in line to try a new formula and a new release, and I am always thrilled when I feel a lovely creamy formula on my lips.
So if you're a fan of nice, creamy lipsticks, then read on as I share with you my favourite lipstick formulas!
1. Too Faced La Creme Lipstick
I bought this lipstick on a whim during a trip to Sephora, and boy, am I glad I did! This lipstick has a lovely creamy formula, and what I love about it is that it's got just the right amount of coverage to nude your lips out, but it is also sheer enough that your natural lip colour shows through. I always like that about lipsticks, because anything that allows your lip colour to show through is always going to look more natural and blend well with your skin tone. You can see me using the Too Faced La Creme Lipstick in Nude Beach here.
2. Napoleon Perdis Cotton Butter Lip Balm
I am head-over-heels, obsessed with this lip product! It comes in a twist-up pen, and has a lovely, lighter cream formula. This formula feels more slick on the lips than the Too Faced lipstick, but still has a nice creaminess to it that I always feel makes the lips look slightly fuller. This product is also one of those lipsticks that are slightly sheer, so your natural lip colour does show through a little bit as well. The colour I love (Doreen) is such a beautiful beige-nude, and it nudes my lips out so perfectly without washing my skin out or making me look too pale.
3. L'Oreal Color Riche Lipstick
Another fantastic formula, this lipstick is more opaque than the first two but equally as creamy. The only thing I don't like about this lipstick is its smell - it has a very drugstore smell about it that unfortunately is quite noticeable, but other than that it looks so beautiful on the lips. My favourite colour is Fairest Nude, and it is a gorgeous mauve-pink that will flatter many skin tones. The formula feels nice and cushy on the lips, and you will not be able to stop rubbing your lips together!
4. Tom Ford Lip Color
Ah, Tom Ford. Beautiful formula, beautiful packaging. The formula of this lipstick is actually quite strange - it feels plush and creamy but somehow so much lighter than any other creamy lipstick I've tried. At the same time, it doesn't accentuate any lines on the lips, and it plumps your lips too. Definitely one of the best lipsticks I've tried.
I hope that you all enjoyed this post - I know I've been gone a while, but I hope that you found this post helpful, and that I maybe enabled a little bit of a lipstick spree ;)
