Get the Look: Smoky Cat Eye
Sunday, June 26, 2011The makeup for my nude lip series was a hit, which makes me really happy - thanks guys for your lovely comments! I really appreciate it :)
Here's the tutorial for the look as promised:
The step-by-step makeup tutorial:
Start with a black base. I used Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Strut.
Blend the cream eyeshadow out with a fluffy blending brush.
Apply a gold eyeshadow to the inner 1/3rd of your eyelid. Bring it into the inner corner of your eyes and a little of the way onto your bottom eyelid as well. I am using the medium gold colour from my Sleek Storm palette.
Then, take a dark blue, high shimmer eyeshadow, and place it close to the lashline, pulling it upwards and outwards to form a cat eye. Do this with an angled brush. I used a gorgeous blue, also from the Sleek Storm palette.
Using the same fluffy blending brush from before, soften the edges of the blue eyeshadow, taking care not to blend too much of the gold eyeshadow out.
Then, take a gel/liquid eyeliner and draw a thick line on your lashline. Wing it out in the same shape as the blue eyeshadow. If you like, you can soften this line by adding more of the blue eyeshadow to the edges of the liner, so it is not too stark. I am using Clinique Brush-On Cream Liner in True Black.
Taking a light gold shimmery colour (I used the lightest gold colour from my Sleek Storm palette), highlight your brow bone.
Clean up underneath your eye with a concealer. I used Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in #52
Apply bronzer or a contour powder, then your blush on the apples of your cheeks. I used Bourjois Delice de Poudre #51, and Sleek Blush in Rose Gold.
Apply a highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones. I am using TheBalm Mary Lou-Manizer.
I'm sorry about the face I'm making in this picture - it was actually meant for a lip swatch, but I realised that it shows the eyeshadow pretty well!
I hope this helped!
