New post series: The Skincare Routine that Worked
Monday, June 06, 2011It was a while ago, that I tweeted about looking through some old photos, and finding a couple where my skin looked really luminous and clear (not to blow my own trumpet, but it did look really good!). Here are a few pictures - I did not retouch my skin in any way in these pictures!
I realised that all those pictures came from the exact same time - when I was back in Malaysia for the summer holidays, a couple of years ago.
I racked my brain for days, trying to remember all the products that I was using at that point in time. After going through it again and again, and asking around for confirmation, I finally made up a list of all the products that I was using.
I am really excited about this - so I'll be sharing all these products in reviews over the next few days!
(This picture was taken using 'Smooth' settings on the camera)
Unfortunately, I didn't know what I had going for me back then, so I overhauled my entire skincare routine (as I am prone to do every 5-6 months or so). I also trialled some skincare products that caused breakouts, which explains why my skin has dulled down and gotten congested since then. I am disappointed, but as soon as my current products run out, I am rushing out to get my hands on all these products again!
The makeup I was using in all these pictures is very standard - I didn't change much about my routine at that time, and I had the tiniest makeup collection. (I was always reading about beauty, but never incorporated it into my life until last year).
I used:
Bare Minerals Foundation in Fairly Light
Bare Minerals All Over Face Colour in Bare Radiance (used as blush)
Clinique High Impact Mascara
Clinique Eyeshadow in Lucky Penny
Chanel le Crayon Yeux/ MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack
Random eyebrow pencils - I could never find the right colour for my hair/skin, so I was always changing.
This might probably be a total bore, especially to all you beauties who already have beautiful skin and a skincare routine that works. I'm just really excited at my own discovery, and thought I'd blog about it.
If you're at all interested, stay tuned this week!
