Makeup Tutorial: Soft Cat Eye

Thursday, July 28, 2011

Happy Thursday everyone! Only one day left till the weekend!

I'm sharing a makeup tutorial on a soft smoky cat eye today. It's a softer, less dramatic version of the cat eye that still elongates the eyes without looking too obvious. This would be great for anyone with close set eyes.

Start by patting a purple eyeshadow onto the lid. I am using my Red Earth Illusion Lights Beauty Pro Eyeshadow in Cocoa Berry (reviewed here).

Then, using an angled eye brush, apply a brown eyeshadow to the eye, winging it out at the outer corners. I am using Urban Decay eyeshadow in Smog.

Soften the line with a fluffy blending brush (I am using the equivalent of a MAC 217 brush).

Apply black eyeshadow to the lashlines, both upper and lower. I am using a new Estee Lauder eyeshadow (which I will be reviewing soon)

Then, line the upper lashline with a liquid/gel eyeliner. I am using another new Estee Lauder product, review to come.

To tie the look together (especially for those of us who have hooded/monolids), dip your (MAC 217 equivalent) brush into some contour powder or bronzer and sweep it across the crease. I used Sleek's Contour Kit in Medium.

Then, apply a light shimmery colour to the inner corners of the eyes and the browbones. I used the Red Earth Illusion Lights Beauty Pro Eyeshadow in Sweet Lolita.

Apply blush, and top it off with highlighter on top of the cheekbones. I used Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow All Over Radiance Creme in Rose Gold.

And that's it! If you tried this look, let me know in the comments. I'd love to see pictures!

I hope everyone has great plans for the weekend!
