Product Review: Anti- Ageing

Friday, October 31, 2014

So I have something to share...

I'm not young anymore (the horror!)!!
I look in the mirror and I see fine lines around my eyes, and more prominent laugh lines...and I panic.
So I've been testing out products that help to slow down father time just a little bit, and today I bring you reviews of two such products.

Please bear in mind that no product is a miracle worker, and most anti-aging products work to prevent, rather than get rid of, fine lines and wrinkles. I would love to give you guys raving, positive reviews of anti-aging products that lift the skin and make my fine lines disappear, but the reality is that a product is pretty damn good if you just don't see any changes in your skin (which means hurray, you're not aging as much anymore!). So here are my thoughts, and what I hope are accurate representations and opinions of these products which will hopefully help you decide if they are worth getting to aid in your pursuit of the fountain of youth :)

Kiehl's Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate

I know Kiehl's to be a brand with products that work. I'm a fan of their Midnight Recovery Concentrate and its sister, the Midnight Recovery Eye, plus I tried their whitening products to amazing results (if only my skin wasn't so sensitive to whitening products!). This thick-yet-light on the skin serum is formulated to moisturise and plump the skin, therefore reducing the appearance of fine lines.

I have been trialling this one for a couple of weeks now, and I love it. The texture is a thick gel, which quickly absorbs into the skin, leaving it velvety and moisturised. Those of you who are sensitive to scents will be happy to know that there is barely any scent to this product.

It's one of those 'instant effect' products, which is why I prefer to apply it right before makeup. It leaves the very tiniest tacky feel to the skin, and I kind of like it because it helps my makeup stick a little better. I have fine lines under my eyes, but I find this product a little too rich for the undereye area, so I avoid applying it there. It works wonders on my laugh lines and the lines around my nose though! Foundation tends to sink into those areas, but whenever I apply this beforehand I feel my skin looks and feels smoother, and my makeup stays on the surface of my skin without settling into any lines.

I have yet to note the long-term effects of this serum, but I do feel like it moisturises my skin very well! If you're looking for something to give your skin a moisture boost, and want to prep your skin for makeup at the same time, this is the perfect product for you.

Cellnique Reversal Venom Essence

This serum is an absolute wonder. Sadly I couldn't test it on the fine lines around my eyes (that's my main area of concern) but my gosh, it really does lift the face! I can't say for certain, but after a few weeks of using this serum, my face looks kind of like I had a minor face lift!

The main areas where I notice a difference is around my eyes, and my laugh lines. I feel like the skin is tighter around my laugh lines, and I notice the difference around the eye area because I am a huge fan of smoky eyes, and before using this product I noticed my smoky eyes looking a little droopy (I hate gravity!). But since using this product, I've started noticing a little bit of 'lift' to my smoky eyes and I'm glad, because I really need my eyes to look nice and perky if I'm going to be applying smoky eye makeup!

I'm really excited about sharing more anti-aging products with you, so let me know what you'd like to see, and I'll try and make it happen for you! And what do you think? Will you be trying these two products?
