MAC Club Eyeshadow Dupe

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

I was staring at someone's eyes, I don't remember who, in a YouTube video and thought to myself 'I HAVE to have that eyeshadow!'. It was so beautifully complex and mesmerizing! I later found out that the eyeshadow was the MAC Club eyeshadow - a dark brown colour with a gorgeous olive-gold overlay.

I scoured the web for it, and almost bought it, but then decided to wait a while (I don't know why!). Then the other day, while I was having a play with my makeup, I remembered the gorgeous Ameli eyeshadow in Olive Green. I remembered that it had this gorgeous complexity of gold and green and holographic glitter, that blended out into a muted brown, and thought it would be PERFECT to layer over a brown eyeshadow to create a MAC Club dupe. I used the dark matte brown from Sleek's Original palette, but you can use a darker brown to create a more accurate dupe.

Here's what I managed to create:

Unfortunately the camera wasn't able to capture the full effect of the eyeshadow. This is the best I could capture - I'm not sure if you can see, but there is a gorgeous olive sheen to the shadow.

Of course, I only recommend this if you love having the Ameli eyeshadow as a separate eyeshadow - because on its own, it creates some pretty awesome effects as well! Otherwise, the MAC Club (if purchased online) is actually cheaper than Ameli eyeshadows.

And because I love to play with makeup, here's a little FOTD I did using the MAC Club dupe:
