Product Review: Majolica Majorca Lash Beautifying Mascara Frame Plus vs. Diorshow Iconic
Monday, March 07, 2011As is probably the case with the majority of Asian girls out there, I have sparse, short lashes. I am always on the hunt for something that functions almost as well as a pair of natural falsies.
I have been using Diorshow Iconic for a good year and a half now. I love it because it defines my lashes beautifully, and adds just the right amount of volume. It also gives me gorgeous length, and my lashes are always pretty and fluttery when I wear this mascara.
I heard all the hype going on about Majolica Majorca's mascaras ages ago, but only just decided to give their Lash Beautifying Mascara Frame Plus a go. This mascara made a name for itself because it contains little fibers that the mascara wand then deposits them onto your lashes, adding length and volume.
Here are the results:
All photos were taken under similar lighting conditions. No eyelash curlers were used, just to give a rough idea of the curling effect of these mascaras without the help of eyelash curlers.
As you can see from the photos above, Majolica Majorca thickened my lashes really nicely compared to Diorshow Iconic. With my eyes open, I noticed a difference in volume as well, but it's not really showing that well in the photo above.
Another thing the photo above illustrates is the Diorshow Iconic's curling power. On the left, my eyelashes are thick and voluminous, but on the right, they are curled up slightly, which lends to a more 'thick eyelash' effect.
Although the Majolica Majorca mascara really delivers, there are a few things you should note:
- The Majolica Majorca mascara is really difficult to remove. The instructions on the box recommend soaking your eyelashes in remover for a while before attempting to remove. If you don't do this, you risk pulling your eyelashes off along with the fibers in the mascara.
- On the plus side, Majolica Majorca will withstand rain, shine, tears, sweat, and even blood *touch wood*. This sucker was made to last!!
- Majolica Majorca is also a very wet mascara. As you can see in the photos above, you have to be very careful with application, because it is very easy to get smudges on your eyelids.
- Diorshow Iconic defines and separates lashes very much better compared to Majolica Majorca. Lashes tend to clump with the latter mascara.
