Get the Look: Eye Makeup for Masquerade Masks

Friday, May 27, 2011

Hi guys! As promised, I have a masquerade makeup tutorial. I decided to create a look to wear underneath a  masquerade mask. I love smoky eyes, so I would probably choose a light, lavender-coloured (I love purple) mask to balance out the heavy eye makeup that I've created here.

So here's the step by step tutorial:

Apply a black base eyeshadow. I used Benefit's Creaseless Cream Shadow in Smut. This will create a good base for your sparkle eyeshadow to cling to.

Then, apply a high-sparkle black eyeshadow onto your base eyeshadow. I used Ameli Sparkle Spot Eyeshadow in Black Scandal. Blend the edges out to erase harsh lines, but don't blend too much. Also, concentrate on the edges of the eyeshadow, so as not to disturb the glittery effect of the eyeshadow.

Then, apply a purple cream eyeshadow to the inner corner of your eye. I used Rimmel Mousse Eyeshadow in Purple. Apply a light blue eyeshadow on top of your base, and smudge it out to erase harsh lines. I used Red Earth Single Eyeshadow in Winter Berry.

Apply a coloured liquid eyeliner. I chose a gold liquid liner, because I think it would stand out beautifully against the blue and black. I used Urban Decay Liquid Liner in Honey.

Line the upper and lower lashlines with a black pencil liner. I used Prestige Total Intensity Eye Definer in Blackest Black.

At this point, you can apply your foundation, and concealer. I used Face of Australia Expert Finish Mousse Foundation in Honey.

Apply a highlighter to your brow bones and your cheekbones. I used TheBalm Mary Lou-Manizer. Then, apply blush. I used the Sleek Blush in Rose Gold. I also added some fine glitter to the look. I used the glitter half in my Pupa Polvere di Luce in Purple.

Apply a lipgloss. I wanted the lips to be a little more dramatic compared to a nude lip, since the rest of the face will be swallowed up by a mask. I used Bloom Cosmetics Double Take Lipstick in Jamaica (the lip gloss end).

This is the finished look.

Here's a picture - the best I could get - of the glitter that I applied on the high points of my face.

And last but not least...

Me noticing my sister photobombing just as I pushed the clicker. Little psycho.
