Get the Look: Attempting a Bold Lip

Friday, July 08, 2011

Okay, so I got a little obsessed with those bright fuchsia lips that Rihanna kept wearing. I bought the Barry M lip paint in #52 Shocking Pink, even though I knew I would never wear it outside the house.

I figured I should post a little tutorial on how I attempted a bold lip, to assure myself that the money didn't completely go to waste. Not fooling anyone? Yeah, I'm not fooling myself either.

But anyway, here's my attempt, and how you can get the look if you're interested.

Start by applying a nude eyeshadow all over the lid. I am using Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Sin, from my Naked palette.

Then, draw in your brows. I chose a thicker brow because I think it looks gorgeous with minimal makeup and a bold lip. I am using my Shu Uemura Brow Pencil in the colour Seal Brown.

Then, to add a pop of subtle colour, pat a pearlescent lilac shade onto the lid underneath the crease. I am using NYX Ultra Pearl Mania Pigment eyeshadow in Lilac.

Draw a line across your upper lashline with a liquid liner. I am using Face of Australia Liquid Liner in Black.

Clean up underneath the eye with a concealer. This is important, to ensure that the overall look is polished and clean. I am using Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in #52.

Apply a highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones, and onto your brow bones. I used Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow All Over Radiance Creme in Rose Gold.for this. Follow with a warm pink blush on the apples of your cheeks. I used MAC Mineralise Blush in Gentle.

Finally, apply your bright-coloured lipstick, and you're done!

It's a really simple tutorial, I know. I hope at least that it was of some use in one way or another :)

Oh, and HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYONE!
