Get the Look: Inspired by 'The Tourist'
Monday, July 04, 2011I recently re-watched Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp's 'The Tourist' and was reminded of how entranced I was by her makeup in the movie. Her smoky eyes were perfectly contoured, and sooo gorgeously smoky and dark!
Of course, my Asian eyes are vastly different from Angelina Jolie's uber sexy feline peepers, so my attempt pales in comparison, but I am still pretty happy with the result, so I thought I'd post the makeup tutorial here!
Angelina Jolie's skin is dewy and luminous in the movie, so I started with a luminous base - Jemma Kidd Mannequin Skin Enhancer topped with Chanel Pro Lumiere foundation in #20 Clair, and then on the tops of my cheeks with Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow All Over Radiance Creme in Rose Gold.
Start with a gold or beige eyeshadow base. I am using the cream gold eyeshadow from the Jemma Kidd Glitterati Eyeshadow Dust Duo in Papparazzi.
Then, using a small fluffy brush, apply a medium brown eyeshadow close to your lashline, and in your crease. Take a larger fluffy blending brush, blend and soften the lines. Make sure to keep the blending neat and close together for this look. I am using an eyeshadow from my 88 Neutrals palette.
Take a dark brown/black eyeshadow and go over the medium brown. I am using MAC Club eyeshadow for this look, because the eyeshadow that Angelina Jolie had on had a little green-brown complexity to it.
Layer a matte black eyeshadow over the MAC Club and the medium brown, and then blend it out with a fluffy blending brush.
Line your eyes with an eyeliner. Make sure to go all around the eyes for this look, including the inner corners. Then, on a pencil brush, take a matte black eyeshadow along the liner to soften the line and smoke it out a little. I am using MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack.
Then, clean up underneath the eye and around the eyeshadow with a concealer. I am using Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in #52
Then, contour at the very back of your cheeks, underneath the cheekbone. I am using Sleek Contour Kit in Medium.
Finally, Angelina Jolie's lips in the movie are as dewy as her face. They have a gorgeous, strange dewiness about them - something that neither gloss nor a very creamy lipstick seem to be able to produce. I decided in the end to go for Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal Lipstick in Crystal Baby mixed in with a little bit of Lime Crime lipstick in Coquette.
And that's it for my tutorial! Thanks for reading, everyone!
