Product Review: Face of Australia Photo Finish Creme to Powder Compact Foundation (Limited Edition)

Tuesday, September 06, 2011

Hi everyone! How are you doing? I've got a gorgeous compact foundation for review today - the Face of Australia Photo Finish Creme to Powder Compact Foundation.

What Face of Australia say:
  • High quality creme to powder formula blends smoothly and gives a poreless, matte finish
  • Long wearing, breathable coverage
  • Suits all skin types
  • Will not cake or sink into lines
I am actually not a big fan of compact foundation - I think it's too thick and cakey and looks unnatural. When I was given this foundation to test, I honestly didn't think that I would like it, for all the reasons I mentioned above.

I was actually really pleasantly surprised when I first used this! It lasted the entire day, looked nice and 'finished', and didn't sink into any fine lines or pores. The packaging is very well done - it comes with a sponge, which has its own space to sit in inside the compact. It even has little vents underneath where the sponge sits so that it 'airs itself out'.

In the pictures below, I am wearing the compact foundation with just moisturiser underneath. No highlighter on top of the foundation, and a little bit of blush.

I get a medium to good coverage with this foundation, which I think is really great. It feels a little heavy at first when you first apply it to your skin, but it smooths on to a nice powdery finish. I was afraid it would look too dry, but it actually looked quite natural, and managed to keep my oiliness at bay.

And I just have to talk about the packaging. I mean, how GORGEOUS do these compacts look? Not to mention, they are extremely convenient to carry around for touch-ups. I would carry one around everywhere just for the chance to whip it out and show it off.

The foundation comes in 4 colours. I found that the colours make too big a leap between the lightest shade and the shade right after it. I tried finding a compact that matched my sister's skin tone, but the first was too light, and the second was too dark. But if you fall within their colour range and like your foundation to look more finished as opposed to dewy, then definitely check this out!

This foundation retails for AUD 14.95
