3 Products to Take Your Makeup from Day to Night

Monday, September 05, 2011

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend!

Today I'm addressing one of the great problems of the social workplace - how to look your best for after-work drinks! Most people don't have the luxury of running home for a quick freshening up before heading out to the pubs for drinks.

Because handbags are heavy and time is limited, I've put together the most basic list of products that you'll need to take your makeup easily into nighttime!

My list of three items is:
  • Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in Strut (this is one of my favourite makeup products!)
  • TheBalm Mary Lou-Manizer
  • Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Colour in Vanilla Suede
Here's my step by step how-to:

This is what I started off with - my everyday makeup.

Then, I lightly applied the Benefit cream shadow onto my lid, stopping just past the crease. I applied with my ring finger and blended with my middle finger. I don't think there is a need for brushes at all because this cream eyeshadow blends so well.

Then, I applied the highlighter onto all the high points of my face - my brow bones, the bridge of my nose, the tops of my cheekbones, and on my cupid's bow.

Finally, I just slicked on my nude lip colour.

Three simple steps, and you're ready to go!

You can, of course, adapt these products to suit your needs and colouring. For example, my blush and foundation last me almost the entire day, so I don't feel the need for touchups in that area. But if you are the type who needs a little more coverage, then switch out the lipstick for concealer - you can conceal and brush the concealer over your lips to create a nude lip.

If you're someone who fancies more colour, then exchange the cream eyeshadow for a red lipstick. Your lipstick can double up as a blush. Just dab a little bit of colour onto your cheeks with your fingers, and blend.

For more drama, you can also add a smoky pencil liner to the mix. A great eyeliner for this is the MAC Eye Kohl in Smolder.

And here is the finished look!

It's pretty simple to do, and you can add to your smoky eye as you see fit by taking the cream eyeshadow further above your crease, as well as onto the lower lashline.

I hope this helps, and if you're attempting this at after-work drinks, share some pictures in the comments!
