Makeup Tutorial: Easy Copper Smoky Eye for Hooded Lids and Monolids

Hi guys! I have finally uploaded my video tutorial for hooded lids and monolids, using some really long-lasting makeup products so your eye makeup should last all night!

The eyeliner is inspired by Kim Kardashian's eyeliner when she does those really dark smoky eyes - I love how intense the eyeliner looks and how it really shapes her eyes! I've posted a couple of pictures so you can get a little bit of an idea of what this look is like:

Makeup Face-off: Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Express Kit vs. SAX Perfect Brow Shaping Kit

Hi everyone! I'm sorry I haven't been updating much! We've had a string of visitors here at the apartment - first my parents and then the lovely Jen from MyFunnyValentine.

So today I am finally forcing myself to sit down and blog, and share with you my thoughts on both these amazing brow products - the Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Express Kit in Brunette, and the SAX Perfect Brow Shaping Kit.

Packaging
Both products come in hard cardboard-like packaging. The Anastasia kit feels a little more luxe because of the croc-skin embossing, but both hold up well during travel.

Product
Both products come with two brow powders, a brow wax, and a highlight colour for your brow bone. They also come with a brush and stencils.

They also both include instructions showing you how to fill in your brows.

Anastasia comes with a better brow brush (one of my HG brow brushes) and more stencils. Their brow powders lean on the ashy side, so they match cool-toned hair like mine very well.

SAX comes with a tweezer, which is perfect when you're on-the-go. Their brush is dual-ended, but performance-wise I prefer the Anastasia brush. They have pretty good stencils as well, and their brow powders are much larger than the Anastasia brow powders. These brow powders lean on the warm side, so they match auburn hair and dyed Asian hair (which almost always has a reddish/orangey warmth to it), and any warm brown hair type.

Performance
The powders from both brands last very long and give you a nice, finished look. I don't see a difference in terms of the quality of both the powders from these brands, so I think it boils down to whether you have warm or cool-toned hair, or if you're aiming for travel-friendliness (in which case I would recommend the SAX kit).

If you plan on using the SAX eyebrow brush, then your look will be a lot more natural, whereas the Anastasia brush provides an extremely done, polished finish. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative to the Anastasia brow brush, fret not! I have an extremely similar brow brush to share with you, and it retails for only $4.99 (excluding postage). Look out for a post on this soon!

Availability
This really depends on where you are. If you're in Malaysia, you're likely to have a lot of friends in Australia who could easily pick up a SAX Perfect Brow Shaping Kit for you and post it to you.
If you're in the US or the UK, Anastasia products are readily available.
If you're in Australia, SAX is available at most pharmacies.
At other parts of the world, you're more likely to find an online store that ships Anastasia products internationally.

Eyebrow Tutorial: How to Get Perfectly Shaped Eyebrows

Hi guys! I finally have my eyebrow tutorial to share with you - it took a really long time to edit and upload, so sorry! It is also a bit longer than I expected because I was rambling a little, but I hope what I put in the video helps you guys :)

A few things that I didn't mention in the video:

My favourite way to do my eyebrows is with a brush and eyebrow powder, but on days when I need to be quick, I have a couple of eyebrow pencils that I really love.

For eyebrow pencils, I look for pencils that aren't too creamy, but creamy enough to draw straight, strong lines to outline by brows before I fill them in. Here are a few of my favourite pencils:

Shu Uemura H9 Eyebrow Pencil in Seal Brown
Kanebo KATE Lasting Eyebrow W in BR-3 (purchased in Malaysia, but you can buy them online on eBay)

I am not a big fan of felt pens, because they don't define my eyebrows as strongly as I would like, but if you want to just fill in some areas or like a light brow, then the felt pens would be the perfect option for you. Unfortunately, because I don't use these products, I don't have any recommendations, but I heard the brow pen from Suqqu (a Japanese brand of cosmetics) is amazing.

Makeup Tutorial: Teal Smoky Eye

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic Easter weekend! I went out partying and eating my heart out despite the fact that I was sick, and I am feeling so much worse now :(
Nevertheless, I had a brilliant time, and I really appreciate having had my boyfriend to myself for 4 entire days!

I filmed this right before my big, long weekend, so no hoarse, sexy voice, unfortunately. I hope you guys enjoy it anyway :)

30-Day Makeup Challenge: Day 5

Okay, I know, this isn't an exciting makeup look! But I needed to look toned down today for work, so I decided to go with something netural and not as dark as I normally do.

My foundation is also a little white for my skin tone unfortunately, so I am not feeling this makeup look at all :( I apologize for doing a bad job here! I will try to step it up tomorrow!

One thing I do like about this makeup look is the amazing colour of the eyeshadow, which is what I wanted to share with everyone. Look at the awesomeness that is my lower lashline!!!

Get the Look: Kim Kardashian Inspired Dramatic Cat Eye

Hi guys! As promised (way back, I know) here's a dramatic cat eye, inspired by Kim Kardashian.

This isn't quite the typical Kim Kardashian makeup look, but it is sort of sculpted in the way that she normally wears her makeup. The cat eye is really exaggerated, but what's a dramatic cat eye without a little exaggeration :)

Start off by applying primer to your lid. This will help intensify the colours, which I think is really important for this look. I am using the Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer.

Then, apply a pale, nude-coloured eyeshadow to your entire lid. I am using an eyeshadow from my 88 Neutrals Palette.

Apply a cool-toned, dark brown eyeshadow to your crease. If you have small eyes, apply the eyeshadow slightly above your crease so that the mobile lid looks larger. I am also using an eyeshadow from my 88 Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette.

Using a fluffy blending brush, blend the dark brown eyeshadow. Make sure not to blend too far into the nude eyeshadow below the crease - we want to keep that area clean.

This is where it gets a little tedious. Use a pencil liner to line both upper and lower lashes. I used SAX Precision Creme Eyeliner in Black.

Then, layer a liquid liner over the pencil liner. I used my favourite liquid eyeliner - the Face of Australia Liquid Eyeliner.

Finally, layer a gel liner over the two previous layers of eyeliner. This is when we can start to shape the eyeliner. You will probably need to apply false eyelashes first to really determine how far you want the cat eye to go. Don't be afraid to move on to other areas and then come back to your flick if you find that it isn't dramatic enough. I used the Clinique Brush On Cream Liner in True Black.

Reapply the nude eyeshadow, and then blend away any harsh lines.

Clean up underneath the eye with a concealer. I used my favourite concealer - Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in #52.

Apply bronzer and blush. I am using Sleek Contour Kit in Medium, and MAC Mineralise Blush in Gentle.

Take a concealer that is lighter than your skin colour, and apply it in an upside down triangle underneath your eyes. This lightens the area the way Kim Kardashian's makeup artist usually does with hers. I used Clinique All About Eyes Concealer in Light Neutral.

Finally, apply a highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones. I used an amazing highlighter that I just found from Inika. Review to come!

Here I have a close-up(ish) picture of the eyeliner, just to show you how layering eyeliner textures can really add to the intensity of the overall look.

For the lips, I layered Revlon Matte Lipstick in Pink Pout over LimeCrime Lipstick in Coquette.

Makeup Tutorial: My Everyday Makeup

Hey guys! I hope I haven't been away for too long. Today I just want to share with you my everyday makeup.

Here's the step by step look!

I start with my Shu Uemura eyebrow pencil in Seal Brown (Hard 9 formula)

Then, after applying my Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer, I pat the brown colour in the SAX Eye Luxe Eyeshadow Quintette in Love at First Sight onto my lid, up to the crease.

I then use the Real Techniques Deluxe Crease brush and soften the edges.

Using the Real Techniques Pixel Point Eyeliner brush, I apply MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack onto my upper and lower lashlines. I also wing out the liner slightly at the outer corners.

Then, using a pencil brush, I use the same colour eyeshadow and smudge out the eyeliner on the lower lashline.

Finally, I clean up under the eye with the Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in #52.

For the face, I use the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder, then apply some blush. I used MAC Mineralise Blush in Gentle.

Get the Look: Inspired by Emma Watson's Vogue US Cover

I'm a little embarrassed to post this makeup tutorial because 1, I look nothing like Emma Watson and 2, I look nothing like Emma Watson.

She has a really small space in between her eye and eyebrows, so the eyes look much more 'seamless' in her picture. If you have deep-set eyes, this would look much better on you than it does me. Here goes!

Start with a strong brow.

Then, place a matte brown eyeshadow onto the lid, stopping just below the crease. I am using a neutral brown eyeshadow from my 88 Neutrals Palette.

Next, pat a silvery eyeshadow onto the lid. I am using NYX Pearl Mania Loose Eyeshadow in Silver.

Take a brown eyeliner pencil, and draw a line following the shape of your eye. I am using the SAX Cosmetics Creme Eye Definer in Brown-Black. This should be drawn very slightly above your crease. If the line ends up too thick, you can make it thinner by using a cotton bud soaked with makeup remover to thin down the line.

Taking a fluffy brush, sweep a bronzer across your crease. I am using Bourjois Delice de Poudre in #51. After that, you can re-define the line, because the bronzer would have probably rubbed it off.

Line your eyes with a black pencil. Mine is Chanel's Le Crayon Yeux in Noir. Keep the line close to your lashes.

Taking an angled eyeliner brush, lightly apply some matte black eyeshadow onto the lower lashline.

Then, take a white pencil and line your waterline on the bottom lid.

Place a bronzer at the very back of your cheeks, underneath your cheekbones. Blend properly and extend that bronzer till about halfway down your cheeks, stopping underneath the iris. Make sure to blend this well into your skin!

Finally, apply a red lipstick. (Sorry about the application! I was being lazy and didn't use a lipliner) I am using NYX Round Lipstick in Snow White.

Then, apply a clear lip gloss. Next, I took a matte black eyeshadow and applied it to the outer lips.

I'm not sure if this is of any use to anyone, but there's the tutorial!

Get the Look: Peacock Masquerade Mask Makeup

Hi guys! And welcome to all my new followers, I'm so glad you decided to follow my blog!

I'm posting a simple masquerade mask tutorial today - just following up with the masquerade theme makeup that my Mum requested for an event that she's hosting at the end of the year. This makeup is inspired by the tailfeathers of a peacock. I just wanted to do a simple, understated one that I would wear. I might post a more 'out-there' mask, but only once I get the time. I'm in the midst of exams at the moment, so I haven't really had the time to do as many tutorials as I would like.

Here's the step-by-step:

Using a hard formula eye pencil, lightly draw on the outline of your mask. The hard formula pencil doesn't settle as well into your skin, so that it is easier to 'erase' the marks if you've made a mistake.

I used the SAX Creme Precision Eyeliner in Bronze.

Fill in the eye area with a dark-grey cream eyeshadow. I used Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow in Smut.

Then, using a purple cream eyeshadow, fill in random spots within the grey-eyeshadow area. Make sure to pat and blend slightly so that the makeup stays on the face. Reapply and blend into the skin to add intensity. I used Rimmel Mousse Eyeshadow in 013 Galaxy.

Pat a sparkly blue eyeshadow over the entire area. I used MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Blue Flame.

Next, outline your work with a black liquid eyeliner. I used Face of Australia Liquid Eyeliner in Black.

Then, fill in the tail with a gold cream eyeshadow. I used a gorgeous one from Jemma Kidd called JK Jemma Kidd Glitterati Eyeshadow Dust Duo in Papparazzi.

Line your upper lashline with a metallic blue liquid eyeliner. Using that same eyeliner, draw little teardrops within the 'feathers' on the 'tail'. Leave a little hole in the middle of each teardrop shape. I used Avon mark. Metalliner Hook Up Eye Glam in Blue Chrome.

Then, I used the other end of the JK eyeshadow (loose glitter with a rollerball applicator) and applied some golden glitter to the little gold area within the blue teardrop shapes.

Next, apply your foundation. I used Face of Australia Mineral Therapy Liquid Foundation in Beige. How gorgeous is the effect of this foundation, seriously?!

Next, start with your other eye. I wanted to keep the entire effect similar to the 'masked' eye, without being too overpowering, so I used similar textures and colours and kept it simple. Layer the grey cream eyeshadow onto your mobile lid, then apply the glittery blue shadow over the top. Blend out and reapply to achieve the perfect intensity.

Line both eyes. I used MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack.

Then, clean up under both eyes with a concealer. I used Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in #52.

Apply a highlighter to the top of your cheek and onto your brow bone. I used TheBalm Mary Lou-Manizer. Apply the same highligter all around the mask on the other side of the face.

Apply a pink blush. I used Face of Australia blush in Outback Primrose. Apply the blush to the parts of the cheek on the other side of the face that are not covered by the mask.

Apply a pale lipstick. I used Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Colour in Vanilla Suede.
