Fragrance Heaven: See by Chloe and Jo Malone

Thursday, July 25, 2013

I love scents. My idea of the perfect way to use perfume is to have just one fragrance that everyone recognises you for. Classy, right?
Unfortunately I have never, and probably will never, reach that point, because I haven't yet found that one fragrance to rule them all (haha), and because fragrances like the two I'm about so show you below, make it so difficult to choose.

I was introduced to both these perfumes fairly recently, and though both are very different, I love them both for their own distinct scents.

See by Chloe
See by Chloe is a gorgeous young, urban, more playful version of the classy house of Chloe, and this scent reflects that. It is light and juicy, whilst still holding on to that floral elegance that Chloe scents are so well-known for. I normally hate juicy, sweet scents, but this one isn't too cloying and thick, so I actually enjoy wearing it, especially when I know I'm going to be with friends indoors, in less humid surroundings.

See by Chloe has also released a bunch of cute videos showing you the See by Chloe girl, and if you've got a couple of minutes to spare, they're actually quite entertaining. They leave you with a kind of happy, playful feeling that makes you want to run out to a party and do something fun. Check them out here.

The See by Chloe fragrance is out on counters now.

Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin
Now this scent is one that I expected not to like. Everytime I've been at a Jo Malone counter I've been overwhelmed by the number of scents they have, and I always seem to not like every bottle I pick up to sniff. I figured this one would be the same. Its name put me off immediately, but since this was a PR sample, I wanted to try it and share my thoughts. When I first spritzed it on, it was everything I expected - a fresh, citrus-y scent with a subtle basil undertone. I didn't like it. But as the day wore on, I found myself enjoying each whiff I caught of the fragrance. Even my boyfriend (pickiest person ever - he only likes two of my many, many perfumes) asked me what perfume I was wearing, and told me that he liked it! It has become one of my absolute favourite perfumes, and I am really looking forward to trialling more Jo Malone scents! Now I just need to get my hands on a bunch of samples *rubs hands together*

Jo Malone's Lime Basil & Mandarin has been part of their line for a while now, but they have also released a brand new scent called Peony & Blush Suede, a beautiful, subtle floral fragrance that a hint of the deeper, sensual suede. If you have the time, walk into a Jo Malone counter and ask for a fragrance shower, and get your SA to tell you all about it. It is so intriguing and definitely a must to experience!
